I asked my dad through LINE:
Hypothetically, if I go back to Taiwan during winter vacation, will there be anything delicious?
My dad said: There is nothing delicious in winter; there will probably only be oranges.
However, an hour later, my dad replied to me with such a long list:
The self-grown fruits waiting for my daughter to come home include the soon-to-be-harvested passion fruit and about five guavas. Unfortunately, the ripe longan has already been picked. Hopefully there will be a chance to try it early next year.
As for green vegetables, the early autumn cabbage is in season, and “xuecui”(snow jade) will be planted soon as well; there is also white cauliflower that is starting to bloom, and broccoli will be later, which may not be in time for your return (to Taiwan). There is a kind of cabbage called “heiyebai” (black-leafed cabbage), which is delicious; the radish “baijingou,” which you may not have eaten before, is small and exquisite, and also delicious.
Everyone, I’m heading towards these fruits and vegetables right now! I’m going to visit relatives in Taiwan this winter vacation; I hope everything goes well!
